what type of plastic is this made out of? the bottles also? thanks

The parts of the breast pump that come into contact with the breast and the milk are silicone. Silicone does not contain BPA. The Avent bottles are available in PES plastic, which is hard and a honey colour, and PP plastic, which is softer and cloudy in appearance. Both of these types of bottles do not contain BPA. Older Avent bottles may be made of polycarbonate plastic, which is clear and hard, like glass. This type of plastic DOES contain BPA, and should be replaced immediately. All our products are 100% BPA-Free, so you can shop with peace of mind.
