My Magic Mud Whitening Tooth Powder Review

Posted on 03 June 2016

I recently decided to give My Magic Mud Whitening Tooth Powder a try because I have been experimenting with a couple of different off-the-shelf teeth whitening products to see how they perform. My teeth could use a little spruce up, they're not getting any younger, and if I restore their whiteness in my own bathroom well then I think that's great!

My Magic Mud Whitening Tooth PowderI had all but given up on commercial whitening tooth products, until I decided to try a jar of My Magic Mud Whitening Tooth Powder. This natural tooth powder lists only natural and organic ingredients and came with a somewhat daunting instruction list, but don' let this put you off. After I tried it the first time I realised why the instructions were so specific, as using this powder has the potential to be quite messy. The instructions came in a little fold out leaflet inside the box, and written in a novel and interesting way that was fairly humourous.

How to use My Magic Mud Whitening Tooth Powder

First you'll need a sacrificial toothbrush. That's because the powder is made with finely ground activated charcoal, which is as black as you can get (this is the stuff that does the whitening, oddly enough). Your toothbrush bristles will turn black, so I ended up using a PearlBar Bamboo Toothbrush the second time around as these already have black bristles. The instructions recommended to either add half a scoop to wet bristles or underneath your tongue. I ended up wasting a bit of the powder by trying to put it on the toothbrush bristles, under the tongue is a much better way to go.

Next you just brush your teeth normally, but gently, and remember to keep your mouth closed. At this point the inside of your mouth will be completely black! I've decided after a few goes to just use this product in the shower so there's no chance of making a mess over the sink. After you've done about 2 minutes of gentle brushing you just rinse your mouth out and you're done. Whilst your toothbrush will stay black, your teeth and the rest of your mouth will return to normal.

What it feels like to use

The powder has no flavour at all, it's entirely black, and there's no foaming either. So if you've never used a tooth powder before this will be an entirely different experience and may take a little getting used to. It doesn't matter if you use a manual or electric toothbrush, you just have to keep your mouth closed.

There's no grittiness about this powder, the activated coconut shell charcoal and calcium bentonite clay that combine to make My Magic Mud Whitening Tooth Powder is ground so fine as to be super smooth. It's also safe if you happen to swallow some, unlike chemical toothpastes which warn against.

Other than the potential for some mess, I can't find anything unpleasant or displeasing about using this powder, and over a few weeks, I am actually seeing the positive benefits on my teeth. One jar gives about 150 uses, so will last much longer than a tube of paste. It's recommended to use only at night, just before bed, so your teeth and gums have time to make best use of the treatment they've just received.

My Magic Mud Whitening Tooth Powder is is suitable for all ages, even children. Smokers, coffee drinkers and red wine drinkers with love this product as will anyone who is wanting to naturally clean and whiten their teeth without resorting to chemical teeth whitening products. This simple, but surprisingly effective product takes a little getting used to, but your teeth will be happy, clean and a little more sparkly after using My Magic Mud Whitening Tooth Powder.
