Acure Volume Shampoo Pure Mint + Echinacea Stem Cell Review

Posted on 23 June 2016

I wasn't particularly looking for a volume enhancing shampoo but I was really interested in the ingredients in this natural Acure Volume Shampoo, especially the Echinacea and Mint.

Acure Volume Shampoo Review

Since I have committed to using natural hair and beauty products I find myself reading the ingredients list of everything I look at. While this does take some time, it helps to become familiar with what is in the product and helps you find the ingredients that will best suit your purpose.

I was interested in the use of the essential oils of rosemary and peppermint in the Acure Volume Shampoo as I know they are both useful for dry itchy scalp and when I saw the addition of Echinacea Stem Cells I was keen to try this natural product. I think we have all heard about the healing benefits of Echinacea especially for cell regeneration. Then there were all the other ingredients such as organic Rosehip and Pomegranate Seed oils, and Acai Berry and Blackberry extract to name a few.

The first thing I noticed with the Acure Volume Shampoo was how hard it was to get the little foil seal off – I was in the shower with wet hands and no fingernails – but after being momentarily annoyed I realised it was a good thing, it means the Acure products are really secure.

The next thing I noticed about this natural shampoo was the herbal, almost medicinal smell. I have been using the Acure Volume Shampoo for a few weeks now and even after careful reading of the ingredients list (again) I still can't actually put my finger on the scent apart from the waft of mint. It's not strong or unpleasant but it does bring to mind some type of medicine – which is good because that's what I want, a natural shampoo to heal my dry itchy scalp without leaving my hair limp.

I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the Acure Volume Shampoo actually does lather quite nicely. It's a sort of bubbly foamy feeling. Some natural products I have used in the past don't get a lather up and though they do clean it always feels like there's something missing and you tend to use more product to try to work up the lather to no avail.

Be careful though, this shampoo seems to come out quite easily – maybe I squeeze the tube too hard! Acure Volume Shampoo rinses out easily and my hair always feels really soft. I also use the Acure Volume Conditioner which has a very similar fragrance to the shampoo but I think the mint smell is a bit stronger.

Being sensitive to synthetic fragrances I really wanted a natural shampoo that didn't have any nasty chemicals and being Paraben, Sulfate and Phthalate free Acure Volume Shampoo not only ticks that box but is also cruelty free. As well as using Fair Trade ingredients it's colour safe for those who like to change their hair colour, and is 100% biodegradable.

Having a fair bit of unruly grey hair I was worried the Acure Volume Shampoo would make me look like an 80's tragic, you know - BIG HAIR! but it works really well to give a bit of lift without any puffiness. I really think it would suit normal or fine hair as it says on the container and I found it soothing to my dry scalp as well, which is a bonus.
